Useless project switcher dropdown added to Visual Studio 2013 SP2

I upgraded to SP2 of Visual Studio 2013 recently and spotted a new Project Switcher drop-down menu at the top of the text editor in the Navigation Bar which I completely hate. See here for a description and screenshot. I tend to work with single project solutions and even in multiple project solutions I’m usually sticking to one project at a time. If you also dislike this dropdown, or believe in a VS user being able to choose, then go to vote at the Visual Studio User Voice site. Who knows, perhaps Microsoft may actually listen to their users on UI issues?

[Update 7 Aug 2014] Microsoft did listen and with SP3 you can now resize the project switcher drop down to effectively hide it 🙂 They’ve also added an officially supported option to stop menu titles being ALL CAPS.
